"Consider handing out disposable cameras as party favors and let the guests do their own picture taking. Ask a couple of people to help take photos¡ this is an event to remember!"
Birthday Cake Design: Make Your Own Ice Cream Cake
Birthday cakes are great but one of the best birthday cake ideas ever thought up was the ice cream cake. Yum...the best of both worlds. While many people routinely buy ice cream birthday cakes, they're really not that hard to make. To make your own ice cream cake, follow these instructions:Bake two round cakes and cool completely. Pull the ice cream out of the freezer and let it soften. Cut each cake in half, horizontally, so you have 4 circles. Lay down one circle and spread softened ice cream on top. Top with another circle and repeat. Frost the whole cake with whipped topping and decorate Put it back in the freezer until ready to serve. Get creative with the decorations by using small toys, candy pieces, and sprinkles. And, use food coloring to make the icing any shade you would like.
Too Close to Christmas
"Don?t you feel sorry for the kids whose birthdays fall close to Christmas? I had a friend whose son?s birthday fell in the week before Christmas. They made it their family tradition to not put up the Christmas tree or any other Christmas decorations until AFTER his birthday, so that his day was just as special and focused upon as it would have been in August. What a great way to make a kid feel special!"Taken from our Mom-tips.com site!
Birthday Party Favor on a Budget
Birthday party favors don't have to break the bank. Find some small object that fits the theme of the party. If you're a pool party, small inflatable toys are fun. If you're at the park and it's summer, squirt guns are a perennial favorite. Small airplanes or cars can fit with a variety of themes. Small stuffed animals or animal stickers can fit with themes such as a circus party, a favorite animal party (everyone brings their favorite stuffed animal), a jungle safari, or a teddy bear party.
Gift Requests
It?s usually tacky to ask for a specific gift in the invitation. But often a small or verbal note is acceptable, for example if the person asks what to bring or if people are chipping in a certain amount for a big gift.
