Public Relations blogs/PR blogs

Blogging for business has many goals, not the least of which is managing public relations functions. To learn more about blogging for business and PR blogs, checkout John Cass's columns on PR, marketing, and the Internet. Cass hosts his blog, PR Communications, on TypePad's blog hosting service. Another great resource is GlobalPRblogweek.com. This online forum gathered 35 communications pros together for one week during which they published 60 articles and interviews on the impact of personal publishing on public relations. The archive of articles from this annual event is accessible for free at the organization's Web site, and planning is underway for the next Global PR Blog Week.

How to watch video blogs

As video blogs have become more popular, companies have designed products to make video blogging easier for both the content producer (the blog's owner) and the viewer. ANT, also known as AntisnotTV, and Mefeedia are tools designed to allow you to subscribe to video feeds, arrange playlists according to your preferences, and watch the feeds as if you were watching TV. Both ANT and Mefeedia offer slightly different features and user interfaces, but both provide forums and resources to users to make the video blogging experience enjoyable. Both are available for free.

Conservative blogs

Political blogs of every stripe and color abound online. Conservative blogs number in the hundreds if not the thousands. A handful of the better-known conservative blogs include Free Republic, GotDesign, Vorticity, Urban Grind, and DSS Hubris. While each of these blogs deals with the overarching theme of politics, each has its own slightly different slant. For example, Urban Grind considers politics and current events from the perspective of the conservative woman in Manhattan, while DSS Hubris focuses on the war on terror and U.S. national security strategy. To find any of these blogs, simply search on one of the titles in your Web browser.

Using photos in a regular blog

You absolutely can use photos in a regular blog, and many of the most popular blog hosting services provide easy-to-use image upload tools. However, simply including photos in your blog does not a photo blog make. Photo blogs have distinct characteristics in that they are primarily a collection of photos organized chronologically and include some form of commentary by the photographer. If the blogging photo or photos you are using are your personal photos, you should be fine. However, there may be issues of copyright infringement if you use photos from other sources such as online news sources. To learn more about copyright issues and photo blogs, read up on Fair Use issues.
