Overglaze
Question:Can You e-mail me the recipe of gold luster (overglaze) which is used to put golden line at the edge of teacups and dinner plates. It contains around 11% gold. Thank you! Hi,I do not have an exact recipe, however, I can tell you that Overglazes include colored lusters, metallic, china paint, enamels and decals. These are all fired over a glaze surface at a firing range of 019-015.There are manufactured marketed Oveglaze mixture for sale, but we do not carry them. Please note that the fumes are toxic, so be careful, and use a lot of ventallation! (We carry Spray Booths which might help.) I have heard of one case where doing Overglaze resulted in heart condition from the fumes! It is quite an ambitious art form, but please be careful. I really have to caution against it. There are many other safer art forms!Jacobwww.MadisonArtShop.com
